Re: btrieve file database



All,

Check to see what your BTrieve output options are.  You
should output a plain ASCII text file using a consistant
format.  If BTrieve wants to write some kind of goofy
header on the file, just use an initial read and toss the first
record.

SQR may access any plain ASCII character file so long as the
format is known and consistant and you know how to program in
SQR to:

1. Open the file
2. Read a record -or- line
3. Parse the record into fields/delimiters etc.
4. Manipulate the fields via your programming.

Please refer to the Manning Press book, SQR IN PEOPLESOFT AND
OTHER APPLICATIONS, which is probably the best book available
on SQR at this time.
