SQR populating Acrobat Forms

Today we have all these password protected Word Templates that serve as a
starting point for filling out a form. Our users would like the forms to
"automatically" be created by the information from PeopleSoft.
I've been considering different methods and I like the Acrobat PDF format for
obvious reasons. I'm wondering is anyone has ever interfaced a data file
created from SQR (possbily would be considered an FDF form) to an Acrobat
Forms. This would at least populate some of the forms data and give the user
to ability to continue populating the forms manually with any data PeopleSpft
wouldn't be able to supply.
I know a lot about SQR but virtually nothing about the Adobe technology or the
available plug-ins. Thanks for any words of wisom in advance.
