Re: ODBC for DB2

Juan,

Connecting to your DB2 on AS400 using ODBC driver will entail a lot
of resources on your part and your AS400 administrator.

1. Your AS400 administrator need to install Client Access in your
AS400 and update service pack. This could entail lots of PTFs
   to install.

2. You also need to install Client Access into your application
server if you are running 3-tier and to the client PCs if
you are running 2-tier. If you have multiple AS400 you have to
tell client Access which AS400 is the managing system.

3. You will define your Data source name or DSN which is usually the
name of your database using 32bit Client Access ODBC driver.

4. Once you have done all of the above then,

     A. Check Qserver subsystem is running in AS400
     B. If you cannot connect, start the host server.

        STRHOSTSVR *ALL *ALL
