Try and run it from a DOS prompt to make sure your name and password are correct
syntax:
>sqrw.exe <sqrprog> name/password@database

Subject: SQRW Unable to Connect to Oracle
Hello Everyone;
I am stumped. I am trying to run SQRW.EXE (located in my Ora/Bin folder) and
receive the following error:
(SQR 4701) Cannot Logon to the database
I have searched the archives and found many references to this error,
unfortunately, none of them helped
me with my problem. The SQRW executable has the following specs:
SQR/4.3.4/PC/Windows NT 4.0/Oracle 7.3.4/June 03 1999
I am attempting to connect to an Oracle 8.1.6 database using Windows NT 4.0
SP 5.
I am running SQL Plus from the same computer and connect to Oracle without a
problem so the
"TNSNAMES.ORA" file is set up correctly. The SQRW executable does not seem
to care if the
TNSNAMES.ORA file exists or not - I get the same error (SQR 4701) no matter
if the TNSNAMES.ORA
file is present or removed.
The ODBC version of SQRW.EXE (located in my Odb/Bin folder) runs without a
problem.
If anyone has any suggestions on correcting this problem, or if you could
point me to a document or two
that might be of some help, please reply - Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Jim
