Code to get middle name, not middle initial

Hi group,
Has anyone come up with a modified sqc to parse the full name into the
various component parts, including middle name, not middle initial? All of
the Peoplesoft-delivered sqc's (rotname#) extract only the middle initial.
Here's the situation: we have a need for putting the employee's preferred
first name on the salutation line of an employment letter. When the person's
name is Lastname,Firstname Middle Initial - no problem. But, we have quite a
few employees whose names are entered into the database as Lastname,
Firstinitial. Middle name - as an example: Jones,T. Jeff - so this person's
"preferred" first name is their middle name of Jeff. If anyone has developed
a routine to get this "preferred first name" and would be willing to share,
I'd appreciate it. I'm tempted to suggest to our HR department that we
simply print the full name on the salutation line, given the variation of
possibilities that exist for names, as has been suggested in archive
discussions about name possibilities such as Oscar De La Hoya and other
variations like. If you happen to respond, would you mind cc'ing a copy to
me - I get the listserve messages in digest mode. Thanks in advance for your
feedback!

Cheers,
Glenn Ackerson
