Thanks for all the suggestions!
I noticed the single ' after I read my own message (I also have an SQR book
which did the same thing!). All the input today helped get me close to where
I need to be. After cleaning up the things talked about earlier, I could get
everything to work correctly...as long as I didn't have the -F or -O flags
on the command line.
I'm sure I'll see it in the morning, but I can't test it anymore tonight
because the SQRW.exe (runs off the server here) died! The application
(SQRW.exe) now has a file size of Zero!
Thanks again for all the assistance...with a little luck, I'll be able to
return the favor after I get a little better handle on this stuff :-)

I agree with the idea of using an input file like Krishnan suggests. This
will get around the 256 max length of a command line. The other item I just
noticed is that Bryan's sample used single quotes for his input instead of
double quotes. Flip-flopping between VB, SQR and PeopleSoft (PeopleCode) I
find this sort of thing trips me up every time! :-)

Mr. Brown - The problem that you are having is most likely related to the
restriction on the number of characters that you can have, as part of a
command.
When there is a restriction, I believe it is in the range of 257 characters.
As Mr. Dombrowski, a batch file would be a fine way to go about doing what
you want to accomplish. Or, you can use a default input file to read the
values that you are desire to.
Hope this helps...
Sincerely,
Krishnan

Thanks Jennifer (and David),
This helped solve the problem! I now have another on related to it. The
starting and closing works great, but I can't get it to read the input
arguments.
I have attempted both an argument file, and placing the data at the end of
the execution string (see below). In either case, the error returned is -
"The system cannot execute the specified program."
I know how easy it can be to always go to others for help. I promise not to
be out here for every little thing that pops up - grin! Any help is greatly
appreciated (I should have caught the "-XCB" part in the book!)
Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan, We had this similar type of problem. We were able to attach the
parameters START /WAIT to the beginning of the command that executed the SQR
and it did work successfully.
start /wait d:\psft\hr\sqrbinw\sqrw d:\psft\hr\sqr\custom\lgegsms.sqr
HPROD75/OPERID/PASSWORD -XMB -id:\psft\hr\sqr\ -od:\psoutput\psjobgsms.log
-ZIFd:\psft\hr\sqr\pssqr.ini -md:\psft\hr\sqr\allmaxes.max
Goodluck!

Subject: "Auto-close" of an SQR run
Hi all,
Yes, I am new to the list (and fairly new to SQR!). We are running 3.0.13.2
SQRW...
I am attempting to have several SQRs run from a dos batch file. The item I
am still looking at is how to "automatically" close the SQR window
(currently have to click on Close before the next SQR is started).
Any thoughts?
Thanks all!
Bryan
