Shadow directories for us is not production directories.
The way we plan on implementing sourcesafe is once files are checked into
VSS they are copied to the shadow directory then we have a program
(currently done manually) that copies the files to the right directories
based on the file that was checked in. But these files only go to our
development directories of PS. We follow our normal migration cycle when
moving things to production.
We use sourcesafe for SQRs, Cobol (cobol, dms, unix and win32 scripts), DMS
scripts (non Cobol), Crystal Reports. We are in a dual environment of
running unix and NT process schedulers so SQRs are both Unix and NT, cobol
programs in unix, and crystal reports in NT.
There are a couple of newsgroups that discuss using visual sourcesafe

groups: microsoft.public.vstudio.sourcesafe

Cool!.
1) Is the Shadow directory a different directory or the same directory as
the one in production.
2) Maybe i am not using it correctly, but is the modified file supposed to
be manaully moved from the Shadow directory to production?
3) can you explain how you are using it with examples?
TIA
