Re: Tax Updates

Title: RE: Tax Updates

Thank you to all who responded.  I appreciate the various tips - things that I would not have known about (until something blew up, of course).

Fortunately we don't have to worry about year-end processing this year.  I forgot about some of the customizations we had made, such as messages.

I had originally tried comparing the new PS-delivered against the custom SQRs, and found the compare process to be real gnarly.  I then thought about just comparing old PS-delivered to new - much easier to see the differences and just roll those into the custom.

Now the fun begins.

Best to all,
Bob

The process of Tax Updates is a very complex one.  You are very lucky indeed on
the batch side.  You are correct in your approach.  Remember though that you
have to check the stored sql statements for customizations as well.

What is the state of the on-line objects?   Remeber to check the messages and
strings values.  These are often customized and overlooked.    Remember that ny
record structure changes will not be identified in your private queries and you
will have to do some work there.

My apologies in advance for posting here, but there seems to be no activity
on the functional HR user's group, and I am hoping that some people here
might have had the experience of doing tax updates in PS HRMS.

We have HRMS 7.51.  We are only a few tax updates behind (specifically 99E,
F, G, not to mention 00A and whatever might come next).  I've compared the
SQRs (fortunately only 2 that we have already customized).  For that part, I
assumed that the best approach would be comparing old PS-delivered against
new PS-delivered and apply the differences to the custom version.

My question:  any tips on a less painful way to apply tax updates?

Thanks,
Bob
