That also does not solve the problem if you are not printing specifically to a
HP printer.  How about postscript?  (This has just come up here and I don't have
any ideas on how to solve it yet).

I also didn't get to search the archives yet, so I still have to do that since I
just happened to see this thread.

And don't forget, you just said everyone has different printers. So if you
say tray #3 has legal, this may or may not be true!

It seems there ought to be a control code (in the back of the HP manual that
I don't have?) to tell the printer "use the one that has legal paper".

Of course, that's what you've been asking.....
