Absolutely we have done that many years ago..... (only the uninformed or a fool 
would use crystal to print checks).
 
1. use hard font installed to a dedicated / locked / secure printer in your 
finance department that stores
the signature and any logos. DO NOT embed images in sqr.   Otherwise you'll run 
into one
of the problems crystal has and that is imbedded images, signatures can be 
sniffed off the data trasmission
and nefariously used.
 
2. recommend custom process job, run on unix is preferable to ms-winblows 
anyplatform. Also peoplesoft 
DOES NOT physically delete output - even if you specify that action on the job. 
Therefore use the executing
operating system native commands to actually send the output to a print queue 
for printing using the
DELETE qualifier to ensure print data file is actually deleted.
