Take a look at the sylk demo and sylk.sqc files at
http://www.ontko.com/sqr/sylk.html. Most of the syntax that you need to know
is in this file.
The other way see the sylk syntax is to save a spreadsheet as a sylk file then
look at the file in a text editor to see how the information is saved.

check the archives - there is a lot of discussion about this. Jim Womeldorf
sent out an SQC a few times that had procedures for creating an XLS.
You can also create a CSV, with a .xls and Excel will open it correctly. It
doesn't have all the formatting you may want - for that, check the archives.
