We are trying to move some mainframe reports (os-390) into Brio.Portal (6.0,
AIX 432, sqr 434, Oracle 8) and are having some difficulties.
We have FTP'ed the report text from MVS to our Unix box and they are in
ASCII with ANSI carriage controls in col 1. We are then running them through
the lis_to_spf.sqr program ( version 2.1), which we obtained from
www.ontko.com, to post process the reports. Our sample test report is a
typical 6 page, single spaced report. When we run it through lis_to_spf, the
control listing says that 6 pages were inputted, processed, and generated,
BUT when we examine the SPF file produced, the report is now double spaced
and 1 original page now overflows into 2 pages. We have examined the
intermediary TMP file, which is produced by lis_to_spf and that seems to
have LF's where one would expect them to be.
At first we thought the problem was in Protal because that's were we first
noticed the double spacing. We have backtracked the problem and have found
the spf's coming out of lis_to_spf are double spaced. I am not sure if this
is a setup problem or what. We have tried various command line combinations
with no success and have even tried running the program with sqr 432
thinking it might be a bug introduced by sqr 434 but with no success.
I am open to any and all suggestions.
We would like to move the output from a number of mainframe jobs to Portal.
One way to do this is to modify each job to put it's report output into a
file and then FTP it to the Portal server. This approach requires our
application team to modify each job, adding FTP steps and they are not keen
on that idea.
Does anyone have a more general solution that might examine the jes queue
and ship all output sent to a specific job class or dummy printer to the
Portal server for processing?
We would like to talk to any site who has solved this challenge.
