It seems like a good idea, but I don't believe it's currently available.

The "web server" that would need to be modified to do this is actually
the ReportMart Repository Service (which may be running on a different
machine from WebSQRIBE itself).  The Repository Service is resposible
for storing files on a disk and serving them back to other processes
upon request.

Java has built-in support for ZIP-style compression (which is the format
that .JAR files use).  It should be fairly easy for the Repository
Service to compress the disk files in the repository and decompress them
on the fly when the file is send back to another process (probably based
on a configuation setting or something).
