Here are some things I've wanted or wished for and thought I'd get the
wishlist rolling. Some of these might be minor, but I wanted to toss them
out and get some reactions and additions. In no particular order...
Better error message and/or handling when loading an SPF and the TEMPDIR
resides on another file system, causing a problem with the temporary SPF
during TOC adjustment, and possibly with others (contributed by Nathan
Treadway)
Ability to designate more input options for "Job" input forms. Such as...
Radio Buttons
Check Boxes (with "on" and "off" values set)
Multiple select lists (returning a comma seperated list)
additionally, both select lists should have where clause cababilty (I
don't think that to report on data it should be necessary to enlist the
DBA to create all the special views you might ever need for value list /
code table lookups). It would also be nice to have an "add ALL" option
to list, which would put "all" at the top of the list (default) and return
a blank, and possibly an "add NONE" which would add a "none" option to the
list and return "none" or "null" (I have had clients wanting to run a
report for all x where x is null).
NOTE: I realize that the "auto" HTML can be saved and changed, but if we
have an auto-generate option, let's make it really useful! At my current
client site, we've already added most of the above through a java applet
and java script, but it gets called by a redirect from a "stub" html so
it's "outside" the system).
Ability to choose a different (user defined/written) java app to do the
"auto-generation" of job input. This would also enable the addition of
JavaScript to the input form to do pre-validation.
Username and Groups belonged to from login to WebSQRIBE available as
environment variable to jobs running in RM.
More flexibility with the templates. Additional generic switches in
ws.conf that work like the "exit" and "change password" options to add or
remove a marked section in the templates. Maybe a "last modified"
substitution that would replace with the last date something was added to
that category?
More detail and examples of permissions in the docs. I know it can be
setup so that job output can only be seen by the user, so that each user
only sees their own output for that job, and the same for groups. I'm not
sure exactly how to set that up, though.
So, any others? Opinions? Deletions? General grousing?
